Pooch Parade on the Peninsula
Sponsored by Karen and Winston Conyers of Sutton Group West Coast Realty and The Rotary Club of White Rock Peninsula

Who are we?

Rotary Club of White Rock Peninsula
Since it's Charter in May 2008, this club has been very active not only in the local community but abroad, promoting the greater good of the giving of self.

Local projects include:
-weekly contributions to the Women's Services Shelter from Cobb's Bread at South Point, where members of the club meet weekly to gather bread, bag it and deliver it to the shelter, ready to hand out to those in need.
- donations to the South Surrey/White Rock Learning Centre to enable the students to further their education with video equipment, etc.  Encouraging and supporting students at the school to become leaders in the community through RYLA (Rotary Youth Leadership Awards).  Students have also been to Ottawa for Rotary Adventures in Citizenship and Saskatchewan for Rotary Adventures in Technology.

Members have donated their time:
-to go to India to assist in the distribution of Polio Immunizations
-to deliver wheelchairs by the container to those afflicted with mobility issues in Cancun, Mexico
-to Guatemala, the Phillipines, and China to perform surgery to children born with cleft paletes and other serious orthodontic issues
-to go to Ethiopia and Uganda to assist in immunizations against Polio and see where the local Rotary clubs greatest needs are
-the club also was instrumental in obtaining grants to help build a 30m water tower for a village in Heros do Nacozari, Mexico
-and assisting in the creation of individual water tanks to villagers whose homes were built high up on a mountainside, where the closest water source was a three hour trek away.

South Surrey Athletic Park
Many sport groups have attempted to acquire bleachers at the track and playing field over the last four years, many applications/ideas have been brought forward and defeated.  MLA Gordon Hogg presented Gary Lund, the Sport Minister of Canada to the 6 Rotary Club meeting held in February, 2011, and brought forth the idea that the local Rotary clubs get involved in assisting with funds to achieve this goal.  The Rotary Club of White Rock Peninsula is the first club to grab the leash by the handle, and get going.  In effect - putting all paws on track.

Semiahmoo Animal League Inc.

The Semiahmoo Animal League Inc. (SALI) was incorporated in July, 2008 and we are a non-profit organization and a registered Canadian charity (#845702026RR0001).

We are founded on two basic principles:
  • People make the world a better place for animals
  • Animals make the world a better place for people

Our mission is to honour, respect and protect the human/animal bond.
SALI's non-profit programs help at-risk people, children and animals:
  • The Guardian Programs help at-risk people keep their pets.  This includes seniors, women fleeing domestic violence, and the homeless.
  • SALI's farm is a safe haven for at-risk children and rescued farm animals to bond, learn and heal with one another.
